This was a very different Tuna season and certainly not one of the Seabears finest. We made six overnight trips. Five were on westerly headings and not far from where we used to find Albacore. Unfortunately there were no Albacore caught this year just like the last few years. This year for the first time Mexican waters were closed to Bluefin fishing. The predominant Tuna species caught was Yellowfin. Most were modest sized fish (10 -20 lbs) and many boats were fortunate enough to frequently come home with limits. We averaged about 8 tuna a trip mostly from paddies never really finding schools of hungry fish. One trip produced only one fish. Although paddies were hard to find, there were usually lots of hungry Yellowtail to catch.
